The board has appointed chairman Jim Murren as interim CEO, effective immediately.

Mullally joined the authority during its establishment phase. He oversaw the development of its regulatory frameworks and supported the UAE’s efforts to align its emerging commercial gaming sector with international standards.

“Kevin has played a significant role in the Authority’s early development, helping to establish its core governance and regulatory structure,” Murren said in a statement. “We thank him for his contribution and wish him continued success in his future endeavours.”

The GCGRA said its operations, licensing programmes and stakeholder engagements will continue without interruption under its executive leadership team.

Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, the authority was established by federal decree with exclusive jurisdiction to regulate, license and supervise commercial gaming activities and facilities in the UAE. It aims to ensure regulatory integrity, responsible gaming and sustainable sector growth.
