EDGE Group, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence conglomerates, has signed a US$7 billion cooperation agreement with Republikorp, Indonesia’s state defence holding company, during the Dubai Airshow 2025.
The deal represents EDGE’s largest and most significant international programme to date.
The partnership, signed in the presence of representatives from Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence, will support the modernisation of the Indonesian Armed Forces and accelerate the country’s defence industrial development.
The programme includes comprehensive technology transfer, localised production, co-development projects, and training to strengthen Indonesia’s long-term defence autonomy and industrial capability.
Under the agreement, EDGE will collaborate with Republikorp on a broad range of advanced systems, including the SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, next-generation infantry fighting vehicles, unmanned stealth missile boats, cyber defence systems, and small arms ammunition production.
The UAE will provide financing and procurement support for the initiative, which forms part of a wider strategic partnership between both nations.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, said: “This landmark defence initiative represents a significant milestone in EDGE’s international growth. In partnership with Republikorp, we are helping to shape a modernised, self-sustaining defence ecosystem that strengthens Indonesia’s national security and industrial capability. This programme embodies our commitment to enduring collaboration, technology transfer, and the delivery of advanced, integrated systems.”
Norman Joesoef, Group Chairman of Republikorp, added: “This US$7 billion partnership marks a major step toward Indonesia’s long-term defence autonomy, industrial independence and international confidence.
“By joining forces with EDGE, we are investing in both systems and human capital for the strategic benefit of both the UAE and Indonesia in advanced defence manufacturing. This is more than just cooperation between two companies; this is a bond between two brotherly nations.”
The agreement reinforces EDGE’s expanding international footprint and aligns with its strategy to export advanced defence technologies while supporting partner nations in developing indigenous manufacturing and technological expertise.
